The street starts from Kamakura station East exit to Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu. About 250 souvenir and food shops are lined up. It is the best place when you visit Kamakura.

Later, Minamoto no Yoritomo moved the temple to Kamakura. The place gradually become center of the city. The red color of the temple is one of the attractions. Sumo match and Bugaku stage which Yoritomo used to love still has been held as event.
It is built in 736, very famous temple in Kamakura. The height 9.18m is one of the highest Great Buddha made by wood in Japan. Inside of the temple, flowers are always bloomed thorough the year. Especially in June and July, more than 40 species of hydrangea are bloomed.

It is the biggest annual festival of Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu which is held between 14th September and 16th September every year. People visit to enjoy Mikoshi, Kencha-kai and Yabusame.
Monks do not take meat or fish because of their belief of Buddha. Shojin Ryori is food for them and you can experience it at "Hachi-no-ki" restaurant or Daihonzan Myoko temple.
It is very popular, old sweets in Kamakura which was born in 1894. People have loved the pigeon looks and the butter flavor.
